Alpine Youth Council Applications


AYC is a great opportunity for youth in grades 10th-12th to be involved in our community, learn leadership skills and provide service. Application forms can be found on the city website beginning February 1st and must be submitted via email to no later than February 29, 2020. Along with the application form, each applicant must provide a letter of Recommendation from a teacher, employer or church leader, etc., also due by February 29, 2020. Everyone who completes these requirements will qualify for an interview on March 5th from 6-8pm at City Hall and all applicants are required to attend our AYC meeting that evening at 8pm. If accepted, there will be a $25 participation fee, t-shirt fee, as well as a strict commitment every first and third Thursdays and the week of Alpine Days (August 3-8). To maintain your membership, you must attend 75% of council meetings. Please direct all questions to Nicki Christensen at 801-367-7261. 


Construction in American Fork Canyon has started! Reminder that traffic, including bikes, are required to follow all flagging operations. Similar restrictions will be in place spring/summer 2020 to complete this project and to repave the roadway. For more information, click HERE

Lambert Park Closed to Motorized Vehicles

On April 24, 2018, the Alpine City Council voted to impose long-term restrictions on motorized vehicles in Lambert Park, except for maintenance and emergency vehicles. The  improved roads to the Bowery and the rodeo grounds will remain open. 

This closure will be strictly enforced by the Lone Peak Police Department. Violation of this policy is a class C misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $500, as per Section 11-400 of the Alpine City Municipal Code. No shooting is allowed in Lambert Park or within the Alpine City limits.

Alpine City will continue to implement a water management plan for 2019.  The overall water use has gone down over the last few years since this policy has been in effect and the landscape looks great. This plan will continue to allow the City to keep the cost of service low.  The following water schedule will be included as part of the plan beginning April 17, 2019:

  • Residential Users:   Use of irrigation water will be allowed three days per week.  Odd numbered addresses will water on Monday, Wednesday & Friday.  Even numbered addresses will water on Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday.  The time period allowed for residential water use will be from 7 pm on the scheduled day for watering until 7 am the following day.  This does not mean that residents should water for a 12 hour time period, but rather a reasonable amount of water can be used during this time period sufficient to provide for the needs of their landscaping.  Smaller 1/4 acre lots should irrigate less hours than larger 1 acre lots.
  • City Parks and other Large Water Users (schools, churches, etc.):   The City will coordinate a plan for irrigation of the parks and large water users.  The plan will require watering during the day to balance the use in the system.  Some parks will be watered less frequently than others.
  • Agricultural Users:   Alpine City will coordinate with the Alpine Irrigation Company and the agricultural users to implement a water management program.
  • Enforcement:        

              -  First Offense:  Warning.
              -  Second Offense:  $50 fine, payment required to have PI valve unlocked.
              -  Third and Future Offenses:  $200 fine, payment required to have PI valve unlocked.


On May 22nd, the Alpine City Council and a full house of meeting attendees, signed personal pledges to commit to drive at or below posted speed limits within Alpine. They are asking all who drive in our city to commit to the limit with them.

  • Do you belive in obeying the law? Driving the limit is a sign of your respect for other Alpine residents and the rule of law.
  • Is the risk worth your hurry? Did you know that the average risk of death for a pedestrian being hit by a car driving 32 miles per hour is 50%, whereas it is only 10% if you are driving 20 miles per hour?
  • How quick are you? Did you know that if you are driving 32 miles per hour it takes an average of 86 feet for you to stop? Bigger cars take longer and distracted drivers even longer!
  • It’s easy to commit. Driving the limit adds an average of only 2 minutes to your drive but safeguards you and others.
  • Be a helpful citizen. When you drive the limit, you will be helping all the cars behind you to drive the limit also.
  • Enjoy Alpine. Driving the limit will feel slow at first and then you will begin to appreciate your new peaceful pace and the people along the way.
  • TOGETHER we can make Alpine a safer and happier place.

We are pleased to announce residents anywhere in Utah County can text “911” on their cell phones and connect with a 911 dispatcher.

Speaking directly to a 911 dispatcher is always the best and fastest way to get help in an emergency or to report a crime in progress.  If you can call 911 for help, please do, but for those times when you can’t call, there is now “Text to 911.”

Texting 911 enables citizens to communicate with emergency dispatchers if they are unable to call 911.  Cases of abuse, burglary and robbery have been successfully reported across the country by callers who have been able to text 911 without tipping off a suspect.  We are happy to be able to offer this life saving service to our citizens.

This announcement covers all cities and all the unincorporated areas in Utah County.  As the public safety professionals in Utah County, we are always working to improve our ability to respond to emergencies to help keep you safe.

Part 14-121 and Part 14-219 of the Alpine City Municipal Code

Adopted by Ordinance No. 2011-14

If any person fails to pay the water charges within 30 days of the date due, the recorder or water supervisor shall give the customer notice in writing, of intent to discontinue service to the customer.  Customers are required to pay the bill in full within five days from the date of notice.

If an account is not paid after thirty-five (35) days, water service will be discontinued.

Before water service to the premises can be restored, all delinquent water charges must be paid in full to the city along with a 10% assessment fee.  In addition, an extra charge of $70.00 for turning the water off and back on will be assessed.

Delinquent sewer charges are subject to the same regulations and fees.

  • Between April 1st and October 31st all floral pieces, decorations and displays shall be limited to the area within the headstone and concrete border and will be removed each Wednesday morning to facilitate mowing.
  • Use of glass, rocks, bark chips, statues, etc., are prohibited.  
  • Shepherd's hooks, wire and wire trellises are prohibited from April 1st to October 31st, 2016, except for the period of time from Thursday before Memorial Day to the second Monday after Memorial Day

On February 23, 2016 the Alpine City Council approved the following items as related to the Alpine Cemetery:

1.To place a moratorium on the sale of plots in the Alpine Cemetery.  The only exception is if there is a death in the family of an Alpine resident.  In that case the family will be allowed to purchase up to three (3) plots.

Alpine has a little over one hundred (100) plots left in the Cemetery.  The City is averaging sales of between sixty (60) to seventy (70) plots a year, after taking into account plot buy backs.  If this rate of sales continues the City will run out of Cemetery plots in a short while.

2.To enforce a strict interpretation on fees related to operations at the Cemetery.  To get the Alpine City resident fee rate the person who has passed away must have been an actual resident of Alpine at the time of passing.

3.To initiate an aggressive buy back program of previously purchased plots. If you would like to sell back your plots or know of anyone who has plots that they do not need, please contact the City.  The City will buy back your plots at $985.00 a plot.

4.To issue an RFP for a comprehensive design of the Cemetery, with a focus on the north end of the Cemetery.  The City will shortly issue a request for proposals to engage a design firm to develop a comprehensive plan for the Cemetery.  The City will focus its development efforts on the north side of the Cemetery.  This will also include work on 600 North street.


Purpose: The purpose of the Accessory Apartment Ordinance is twofold:

1.  To allow homeowners to rent part of their homes to others safely and legally.

2.  To keep illegal duplexes from covering the City and lowering the property values of everyone who lives in the City.

How does it work:

1.  You fix up a part of your home to rent to someone (it helps to call the City first).

2.  You call the City to register your apartment.

3.  The City sends out a building inspector to make sure it is safe.

4.  You pay $50 and you are off and running.

5.  You pay your fee each year and continue to rent your space out.

How does it NOT work:

1.  You can't rent out both the top and bottom of your home and then go live in American Fork.  You have to live in your home to rent part of it out.

2.  You can't just rent out part of your home out without registering with the City.

3.  If you rent it and don't register it then you could be fined.
